Elivi Varga
Elivi Varga earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in flute performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007, a Master of Music from Illinois State University in 2004, and a post-graduate certificate from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, in 1998, where she lived for five years after graduating with honors in music from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. She has performed recitals in the United States at such places as the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and at the Levine School of Music in Washington, DC, and she regularly tours Sweden. As an orchestra member, Elivi has performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Sinfonietta, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Danville Symphony Orchestra, Jenkintown Music Theater, and the Settlement Music School Contemporary Players. She has taught flute at Southeastern Louisiana University and Illinois State University. She has also taught at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Art and Music School, Camp Batawagama in Michigan, the Illinois Summer Youth Music program, and as a private flute teacher for over 15 years. Elivi’s teachers have included Jonathan Keeble, Kimberly Risinger, Manuela Wiesler, Bonnie Lake, and Toshiko Kohno.
