Jassamine Harris
Violin
By studying piano since age four and violin since age nine, Jassamine Harris started her music adventure that last a life time. She admitted into the Experimental Music Class of YongFu Elementary School; and Experimental Music Class of National Tainan Girl’s Senior High School, where special music curriculum is designed for young talented musicians, which solidly prepared Jassamine music knowledge and instrumental ability for her future study and career. Jassamine was offered college education by both Queens Land Conservatorium of Music in Australia and National ChiaYi University in Taiwan. She then decided to study Music Education degree at National ChiaYi University where she also received full scholarship offered by Taiwan Government. Jassamine then earned her MM degree in Violin Performance from Temple University, Philadelphia in 2004.
Over the years, Jassamine has performed recitals, chamber music concerts as well as playing with numerous orchestras, which includes Reading Symphony Orchestra; Symphony in C; Lancaster Symphony Orchestra; Pottstown Symphony Orchestra; and many more. She has also won the second prize of Tainan Children Violin Competition at age 10; admitted into Taiwan Youth Orchestra and toured with the group in Asia; had a master class with internationally well known violinist Mr. Cho-Liang, Lin; and participated in International Leschetitzky Academy music program in Vienna in 2000. Major Teachers includes Vladimir Tsypin- New York Philharmonic Symphony; Helen Kwalwasser- String Dean of Temple University; Dmitri Levine- Philadelphia Orchestra; William de Pasquale- Former Co-Concertmaster of Philadelphia Orchestra.
On top of her busy performances, Jassamine has been teaching violin lessons ever since 1997. She also had served as a full time music teacher in an elementary school in 2001. With her teaching experiences and music education that she has received, Jassamine believes teaching every individual student is a different and new experience. She would work with each student for his/her individual needs and music ability. Material using for lessons covers from Hrimaly – Scale Studies, Wohlfahrt – studies; etudes; Sevcik – etudes; Suzuki violin books; to Disney melody for violin solo, and more. Jassamine mixes and matches different music materials for different student needs.
Jassamine is now teaching at Nelly Berman School of Music and regularly performs with Reading Symphony, and Symphony in C.
